Alice VR Developers Release Teaser For New Title: The Wizards VR
Carbon Studios, developers of Alice VR, are working on a new game that offers players a window into the fantasy world of magic.
Titled, The Wizards, the player takes on the role of a young magician tasked with protecting the ‘Realm of Men’ from encroaching enemies. Presented in a ‘high fantasy’ setting the player faces varying opponents across different maps and landscapes.
Gesturing with handheld motion controllers allows the player to conjure up a variety of spells used to overcome obstacles and combatants. The Wizards VR also includes game modifiers called “Fate Cards” that “can change game difficulty and reward value to the player’s liking.” According to the press release, these cards “increase replayability and accessibility, which makes the game satisfying for both challenge seekers and casual connoisseurs.”
In addition to the above, players can expect to find a campaign mode that increases in difficulty as they progress through the game. The difficulty is described by the developers as “increasingly powerful spells.” So, it could be assumed that the series of gestures needed to complete spells becomes more complicated and harder to master. Kind of like if guitar hero and magic the gathering had a baby in VR.
Although this game is screaming out for it, there is currently no announcement for a multiplayer battle option. We reached out to the devs about the possibility of this option being added in the future, and they explained,
” there is no plan for a multiplayer mode at the moment. The game will be released on Steam Early Access first and we might consider implementing a multiplayer mode if the players will ask for it.”
According to the press release “The Wizards is the second VR game by Carbon Studio from Gliwice, Poland. The first title, ALICE VR, had its premiere in October 2016 on Steam and gog.com. The idea behind The Wizards was conceived during VR Funhouse Game Jam, organized by the Epic Games and NVIDIA.”
The Wizards VR is due for release in 2017 and is coming to the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift platforms.
