Oculus Pre Orders Coming This Wednesday!
Today, Oculus announced in a blog post that they will open pre-orders for the Consumer Version of the Oculus Rift (CV1). Preorders will commence at Oculus.com from 8am Pacific Time on this coming Wednesday (January 6).
The announcement came with no mention of price, however the blog post explains that Oculus will ” be sharing everything you need to know to order your Rift on Wednesday”.
Oculus founder, Palmer Luckey, will be answering questions from the VR community in a reddit AMA that will take place at 6PM Pacific time of Wednesday.
In a recent tweet from Palmer, he mentioned that “If enough people pre-order and somehow exhaust all the stock we are building up, later orders will just have a later ship date.” However no figure on this tipping point was given.
The opening of pre-orders will be an interesting time, as we will be able to start getting a metric for the initial interest in high end consumer VR.
