Radial G: Racing Revolved Review
If you’re looking for fast pace, foot to the floor, roller coaster, Virtual Reality racing action, then you have come to the right place. Radial G takes you through a twisting circuit of cylindrical track, that sends you racing from speed boost to speed boost, as you defy gravity to stay on course. The game is full of twists, turns and jumps, but be careful not to loose control and send yourself flying into the depths of space. Radial G has a great sense of presence, and the first person view really works well here. You got a great feeling of immersion as you occupy the cockpit of your vessel, which it has to be said, looks really good. The game is reminiscent of classic titles like wipeout and F-Zero.
When you start the game you begin with 3 ship choices. The Hound, The Onyx, and The Viper, each ship has its own characteristics that are defined by speed, handling, and shield level. You can choose to play in your own career mode, and work your way up through the ranks. Or you are able to take the challenge online with the multiplayer option.
Things to head toward are pretty much anything green, this includes speed boosts around the track, and more boosts on the approach to the jumps. You can use the blue sections throughout the track as a means of recharging your shield, which should help you hold off your competitors advances. Things to be careful of are pretty much anything you can see thats glowing red, there are red beams that slow you down, and dangerous edges that it is essential to avoid.
This is pretty epic adventure, so we would recommended this game to people that are slightly more familiar with VR, or those that have a good tolerance to roller coasters, as this game does tend to throw you around a bit. So if you are like our guinea pig. Then approach this one with a small amount of caution.
If you fancy giving Radial G a go, then head over to steam, where its available to purchase for a pretty reasonable price. Or you can check out the single player demo here. If there are any other apps or games that you would like us to review, then feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments below. As always, thanks for watching.
