Top 5 Local-Multiplayer Games for PlaystationVR (PSVR)

By  |

With the PlaystationVR (PSVR) being out for longer than six months it’s had the opportunity for its game library to grow from both indie developers, developers working on games for other HMDs and of course companies such as Bethesda that are creating AAA games, in this case: Fallout4VR.

Although Virtual Reality has the stigma of being somewhere “nerds can hide away in their mom’s virtual basement“. It also has the possibility of being used with friends via the one headset. With games that involve players using controllers while one person is in a headset, or a puzzle solving game, maybe even an arcade where people take turns to try get the highest scores. In this article, we’ve managed to get the top 5 local-multiplayer games for the PlaystationVR.

Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes

Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes is a game developed by Steel Crate Games which involves one player being trapped in a virtual room. In this virtual room is the player, and a ticking bomb, which is just waiting to go off. With your friends or “Experts” you must defuse the bomb by deciphering the information found inside the bomb defusal manual. (copy available in game or printable here). This game is a perfect introduction to local-multiplayer games for Virtual Reality, as it allows players to work together, have a fun night together and experience an entertaining social experience all while being inside, not a virtual basement, but, a VR party game!

Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes works on PSVR, Rift, Vive, Daydream and for those without a VR headset, a Windows/MacOSX standalone version is also possible. However, for PSVR users this game is on the Playstation Store for $14.99 USD.

Headmaster

Headmaster is a game for the PSVR with a unique game style that is only possible with the power of VR. As its name suggests, in Headmaster you head many things, including soccer balls with your actual head. The Developers, Frame Interactive -based on the information from their website – created this game from the inspiration of Portal and Wii Sports, like it was a “bizarre love child“.

Released alongside the PSVR at launch, Headmaster has a Single player story campaign containing over 40 levels. However, the piece we’re looking for is.. Party Mode. Headmaster has a Local Party Mode, with 9 multiplayer levels that 6 players get the opportunity to pass and play, as well as, a competitive mode allowing players to see who comes off as the best. The game was created with the novice player in mind and is advertised on their site that it doesn’t require any prior experience or interest in soccer.

Headmaster is exclusive to PlaystationVR, selling at $19.99 USD on the Playstation Store. Its a game which allows you to not only get up and play with friends, but during downtime by yourself you can easily get up and go through the single player mode which is also available.
