VRRelated is happy to announce that we will be running a continuous 40-hour live stream to raise money for the blind. (Twitch.tv/VRRelated)
The 40-hour stream from 5th August 8pm until 7th August 12pm (UTC) is the work of Jomas Benfell, who took it upon himself to set the wheels in motion for the event. Virtual Reality is an exciting new technology with a plethora of applications, some already discovered, but many still to be explored.
One of the things that we know about this expansive world that we inhabit, is that each person in it, has their own trials and tribulations. So when Jomas pitched us the idea of setting up a charity stream to raise money for those unable to experience VR, we were all for it.
The stream is taking place as of the 5th August 2016, and will be held over on our official Twitch.TV channel.
So far Jomas has managed to create a healthy interest from game developers and companies within this emerging industry. And, has been working closely to set everything in place. Jomas will also be hosting the stream with friends, where they will be engaging in a range of activities based around the VR content.
“Over the past three months I’ve been working on a Charity Stream, I wanted to raise $50000 for the Blind Foundation. But there’s much more to it, I had wanted to make it on a $0 budget, with only the support from companies and friends.” Jomas Benfell.
“Over the forty hours we’re planning to not only play Virtual Reality games, but we’re going to make a difference. Thanks to developers we’ve received 107 games to play throughout the stream and we’ve received over 200 games to giveaway to the viewers. Thanks to sponsors we’ve got over 300EUD worth of G2A vouchers, the HTC Vive, a VRReady PC, a venue for the stream, everything we could possibly need. We have it all on a $0 budget as a 15 year old. I’m thankful to those that have supported and sponsored this event. Furthermore, I’m thankful to those that have dreams, all dreams can be accomplished no matter your age or how much money you have. This stream is to create a difference, to raise $50000 for the Blind Foundation, to help those that don’t have opportunities like the ones I have.”
Special thanks to Intel for their super quick I7-6700K @ 4GHz, Gigabyte for their GTX 1080, VRRental for the HTC Vive and DXRacer for super comfortable chairs!
All proceeds generated during the event will be donated to The Blind Foundation. You can find out more about the charity’s work over at their official website. If you would like to make any donations to the cause, then please head here
